Ventimiglia Alta Words from the Ramparts and Beyond

Welcome to Ventimiglia Alta Words. My blog is inspired by my little home in the medieval ramparts of Ventimiglia Alta and Ventimiglia's history spanning the centuries from pre-Roman to modern times. Wherever I am - in and around Liguria or back in New Zealand - I enjoy posting on quirky things that catch my eye.

I am an Aucklander who lives in Ventimiglia on the Italian-French Mediterranean border.  I enjoy writing about intriguing and unusual destinations and am the author of “Portraits of the Riveriera” (NZ).  My travel articles have appeared in various magazines. As well as travel, my interests include local history, environmental issues, organic vegetable gardening and genealogy.  My ebook titles include

"Triora - not only witches" , "How the British came to Bordighera on the Italian Riviera" , "Several slightly spooky short stories set on and around the Italian Riviera" , "How to explore Ventimiglia Alta on the Italian Riviera" , and "An A-Z of Italian street names and the stories they tell of Italian history"

I am a qualified and experienced proofreader and copy editor, translator (from Italian to English) and English teacher.

I am always happy to hear from Travcom members who are visiting my corner of Europe. I can provide articles on destinations in western Liguria and suggestions for exploration and accommodation in Ventimiglia Alta and surroundings.
